About Recipe

Breakfast Shakshouka — while rooted in North African and Yemenite traditions — has become a Dubai breakfast legend. The dish features eggs poached in a rich tomato, pepper, and spice stew. It was introduced to the Gulf via Jewish migrants from Yemen in the 20th century, and quickly embraced in Dubai’s multicultural kitchens.

Legend has it that Dubai fishermen served shakshouka on dhows at sunrise: the bright, warming dish helped them recover from long nights at sea. A timeless proverb: “The one who starts his meal with Shakshouka faces no hunger by noon.” In Munch Classes, you’ll learn the patience and flair behind creating perfect poached eggs bathed in robust flavors.
